Red face Repairs

Hello gentlemen,

I have quite a few badges belonging to members that have been sent for repairs ! some I have had for several months and by now, said member must be getting impatient and I fully understand why, so please accept my apologies !

Can I ask you to be patient for a little longer please, since Christmas, due to various reasons, I have only managed one and a half days working in the shed and again today, like half the country, we have a white out !!

Basically, because of my recent health scares and I am not only talking about last November, I have no intention of starting work again in adverse conditions, it is not like going to work where I can settle in a cosy little workshop, my shed really is cold and nasty in the winter.

Consequently, if anyone feels that I have had their badges too long, please let me know and I will return them, giving you the opportunity to send them somewhere else, having said that, I am equally confident that depending on the weather, I should be back at work soon ??

Please bear with me !

Regards.

Dave.

No problems whatsoever Dave. They are worth waiting for. And there was me thinking that today was going to be a good one.......
All the best and regards to Kath.

I'm sure if you asked Kath nicely she would get the shovel and clear a path through to the shed for you

(More likely get the shovel and whack you with it)!

But seriously, don't over do it Dave, its not worth rushing back to the shed too early.

Regards, Ivan

PS If you need any more Yorkshire Regt badges, you had best ask quick (unless you want to start collecting RLC that is).

No worries from this side of the ocean. Im not in a hurry for any of my bits. You just get better and start back up when you feel like it.

Hiya Dave,

I've not sent any repairs as of yet, because you did mention this issue before on the forum, and also you stated that you will have to hold back on the repairs for a little while, ........ but just so you understand, a little pointer for you;

"Your Health is far more important to you, your family & all of us"

A little word to those who are concerned for their badges, and I'm of the opinion there are none, as you are trusted by all;

We are in this hobby to collect badges that are hard to acquire, this can & is a waiting game, as some badges don't come around too often, and I also understand the need to hold them, show them and look at them.

When we find one that is damaged, cheap and looks like it needs repair, we are over the moon. We then have to send it off to have it repaired, this is another waiting game, and a part of being a collector of badges.

When we have in our midst an artist of the highest quality, like Dave, we should be lookinng after him and his health, not making matters worst for him.

Dave isn't the only one on the forum with health issues either, so think about this when commenting or sending private correspondence to others.

An old saying comes to mind; "Engage Brain Before Opening Mouth"

I had to wait about 6 months for a badge repair, due to me not meeting up with the repairer, he said he could post it to me, but I said "no, I'll pick it up at Farnham next time it was on". As with all repairs of quality, they are worth the wait, and Dave I have a number of badges here in my house that need repairs on OSD Blades etc, so do not venture out "UNTIL" it gets warmer for you, and acceptable for Kath to allow you out.

Take care buddy, and an old chinese proverb from a waggon drivers saying from the Victorian Era of 20th century springs to mind;

Keep it moist !!
(Well? you never know when you might need to use it again, ..... do you?)

Ken (The Fatboy)

PS Now to highjack the thread; I got the badges Jerry !! sorry Dave

Here are a few of the badge repairers on the forum, that I know of;

Magpie
Sonofacqms
davec2 (not very well at the moment)

There are not any badge repairers in Canada, as I'm aware of, .... but I'll bow to others comments to that.

These are just the one's I know of, and there are more.

Mike (the boss man)
Why have these guys not been allowed a thread or page, to help us all to contact these guys, they do lots of good workmanship all round. I'm sure there could be a disclaimer involved in said page, and all workmanship is at owners/repairers risk.
(Just an inexperienced collectors thoughts, I think this has been mentioned before)

Hi Dave,
I haven't disappeared completely! Just haven't been buying any badges of late, as you know how much I specially like picking up damaged and broken ones so I can send them over to you. Looking forward to resuming our regular trade once you are up to it, but for now, keep in, keep warm and get better again! Any chance of an apprenticeship when the weather is a bit better?

Take care and talk soon

John
