Default QC Devonshire

I bought this one at an Antiques fair this morning.

It has quite long lugs and may be silver plated and gilt?

Is it an Officers collar badge?

Rob

Thank you Simon

I presume they only obtained QC badges after they returned home from Kenya?

Since this thread I have purchased what I thought was a cap badge to match this collar badge, it appears to be from the same die set, it has the front section pinned on north and south like the collar but it has a slider which doesn't seem right for an Officers cap badge.

But when it arrived I realised I have been here before, I posted this badge in an album years ago and was told it was a Birmingham mint badge.

So what exactly have I got?

Are the last two Birmingham Mint badges with the fronts pinned on differently made in the same die set as this genuine collar?

Was there a cap badge to match the collar shown in post one and if so what fittings would it have had?

Rob,

Collar is genuine but the cap badges are Birmingham Mint or the like.

regards

Wouldn't the long lugs indicate its use as a cap rather than collar badge!
Tony.

Yes it could be, I dont think we have actually been told its size, but Rob in post 1 thinks its a collar.

It will be an Officers cap badge then Rob.
I have a silver and gilt ,a bronze and an anodised version.

Ive been on the hunt for QC Offrs collars in s/g and bz,seems you dont see many about. Ive seen images of the s/g pair, they appear to have a blue enamel backing to the castle.

Was there several runs of Birmingham mint badges over a period of time, my reason for asking is the different position of the wires holding on the front section, N/S E/W?

And are there any more cases of a genuine die set being later used for a Birmingham Mint badge?

I have several smaller Kings crown Officers collar badges, I see in "Churchill" there was a QC version so that's seems to be what I need to be looking for to go with this cap badge.
