Opinions wanted on “Three Feathers” Badge
I would be grateful for opinions on this Cap Badge which from Gaylor’s book seems to be the Cap badge of the Denbighshire Hussars. It is lugged and I show it next to another Cap Badge in order to give an idea of size. I attach a picture, and apologise if it is not posted in the correct sub forum

Not my thing but think I’ve seen them sold as 12th Lancers arm badges (albeit the dealer selling it as such is neither trustworthy or reliable IMO) and 3rd DG arm badges. Not Denbigh Hussars I don’t think.

Its not the DHY..... I think its the arm badge of the Bugler/Trumpeter of the 10th Hussars or 3DG? I dont have my Lineker & Dine book to hand.

Thanks Luke and Gryffydd.
What do you mean by 3/3rd DG arm badge? Thanks, Peter |

Abbreviations for the 3rd Dragoon Guards.

Thanks Luke and Gryffydd,
I am interested as to why you don’t think that it is the Denbishire Hussars, since it appears exactly like the example in Gaylor’s book. I should state, what must be obvious to you now, that I have only a little experience in this field. Thanks, Peter |

"The Books" are not always correct
* Those brass looking badges are/were "Bronzed"..... and the white metals are the Bands collars.

Hi all,
Not looking to hijack this thread but I thought I would post here as I have a similar badge. This is from a large lot of badges that came with a medal collection my brother and I bought (we're medal people so not too up on badges!). I assumed it was Royal Welch but then considered it may be Hussars. Grateful for any pointers! Apologies for image quality - can do better if required, just need to set up the proper lighting, etc. P1090666 - Copy.jpg P1090668 - Copy.jpg Regards, Neil |

It's a collar badge of the pattern worn by 3DG, 10th Hussars, Royal Wilts Yeomanry.
Definitely not Welsh Regt. |

Alan,
Thanks for your speedy reply. I'm guessing by the general use of the badge across so many units it is quite a common badge? Regards, Neil |

Not that common as they were relatively small single regiments although they did have a long existence. Alan |

These badges were used by a variety of the smaller police forces in Wales at one time and are fairly common. I can't comment on military use as such but it is worth being open minded as to who actually wore them. The appended photo was taken in 1924 in Anglesey, North Wales.

Gents, I plan to list this badge on ebay shortly. I stated when I joined that I would give first refusal to any forum members if they helped with any badge ID. So if anyone is interested please let me know. Regards, Neil |
