Default Unknown Middle Eastern Badges

The badge on the left (the larger one) reads Algaish Iliraq - Iraq Army.

I've always had this one labelled as Jordanian Arab Legion.

Depends on your interpretation of "modern". But as it contains a crown, find out when Iraq stopped to b a monarchy (Wikipedia says: 1958).

BUT, I tend to follow leigh kitchen and think it is Royal Arab Legion or later Jordan Armed Forces.

I picked up a cast, silver coloured one in Tel Aviv in 1978.
I got another one years later - a hollow struck brass one, (found on the ground in a car park in Kent), both brooch pin fittings.
Presumably they have those fittings for wear on the Shemagh headdress? (Apologies if "shemag" is the wrong term).

It is the badge of the Arab Legion, below an image of a particular favourite of mine...

My eyesight is not what it was. When the Arabs use the definite article in written form it comprises the equivalent of two letters. However when the script is stylised it can be difficult to read - at least by me. The first word is definitely Army (gaysh), The second word could well be Arab - thus Arab Army.

No it doesn't, it treads al Jaish al Arabia = the Arab Army and it worn by the Arab Legion now the Royal Jordanian Army.
