Earl of Chester’s I.Y.
Hi have just acquired this badge, it is cast and unfortunately broken by the scroll “ICH” and base of Feather’s, what I like is the font and the Jewels in the Coronet.
Is this an authentic badge? hope it is! Many thanks Billy |

I would say it's a cast copy using an original as a mould but I would not buy it my self.

Thanks Alan, might it be a theatre-made badge as a replacement?

I would not rule it out as an OSD badge. The quality is not great but how many would have been made? Were they ordered by the regiment in small numbers? I don't know much about them but it definitely has some age and the lugs look old. Considering the IY were raised for the ABW and finished by 1908, I doubt it would be a field made copy.
