Default Coldstream Guards Large Silver & Enamel Badge - Good or Bad (plus what is it exactly)

Hello All

I have recently picked up the badge pictured below (didn't cost much so nothing lost really if it is wrong). I know these have been heavily faked but would appreciate opinions on whether this is good or bad. I have cleaned it up as it was tarnished. The lugs are quite long at 16mm. Another question, exactly what is it and who was it worn by (officers or WO's or SNCOs)

Many thanks in advance

Paddy

I believe these are for wear on the FSH ( pith helmet ). Ive seen good quality Officer one's, but these i believe are modern copies. IMHO. I have one i paid less than £10 for, but i don't rate it.....

Andy

Many thanks for your reply, I will try and take better pics of the lugs in natural light tomorrow. I only paid £10 for this one so as I said, not too much lost if wrong. I have another one which is a slightly better quality (mainly seen in the detail and enamelling of the centre) but it has repaired lugs.

That is a beautiful quality badge and I doubt it a fake.

Here is a previous answer suggesting that it was worn on the ECM back pack on public duties.
