Years ago I went home to Belfast to join the Royal Marines, was accepted but the waiting list was eight months long. Came back to the U.S. and joined the Marine Corps. Loved the time I served but in hindsight I should have joined the Royal Irish.

Return Of The Royal Irish
Very proud to see them return. Pity so many politicians are making a big deal about it. Not too many of them have the guts these lads have. Was very proud to have served in one of the Home Service battalions years ago. These lads are a credit to our wee country (not forgetting all the other units from the regulars and TA from NI that have also gone out there).
The Royal Irish have definitely earned vast ammounts of credibility since their formation in 1992, and been through many tough situations. I'm glad I'm on the same side. I certainly wouldn't like to be their enemy. Looking forward to seeing their homecoming parade. Faugh-a-Ballagh |
