Its the 17th Lancer Spurbone1 Motto. Some in focus images would be appreciated .... is it an OSD/Bronzed or is it a dirty silver/Wm?

Hello Griff. Can you make clear what your description spurbone relates to, I'm sure its a description or your own much as ones I use -bump on the nose version Berkshire Yeomanry and dot dash GMGR slider. Regards, Paul.

...oh right.... well .... each motto type has its own unique identifiers. This type has one universal one as a quick reference.... (hence 1 & 2). Its a small spur on the knuckles at the top of the bone ends. 1 & 2 have small differences.... the 1 has a line that extends through the line of the nasal circumference etc. Its just my method of being able to tell the motto types apart.

Or Alpha. On a GMGR slider crimp mark/line is broken, short bit of line, longer bit of line=dot dash. Regards, Paul.

.....could be better Tony..... need a bit more light and focus? It appears to be a cast bronze?

These were made by Jennens & Co (pre 1923) and also Gaunt (post 1923) ..... the back of it does not inspire me as coming from either of those two makers. If you look at my examples you will see the bronzed examples are all crisp strikes front and back. I would expect to see much clearer definition in the back image unless J&Co had a cheaper method of producing OSD? It certainly looks good from the front.

** Point of interest :- These were also made for the Other Ranks pre 1923 in bronzed GM and white metal. So Jennens & Co must have made them for the ORs as well.... as the white metals are from their die.
