Default Royal Scots Greys - eBay Offerings

Two lots of interest on eBay from cpmil.
Field Service Cap
Forage Cap

I have been dealing with these gentlemen for years, and I have only ever had positive experiences.

When was the black piping around the crown of the SD cap introduced, together with the black patch behind the badge?
I heard it was to mark the murder in July 1918 of their Colonel-in-Chief, Tsar Nicholas 11.

I do think this highlights a good point. There are dozens of threads on here with links to meaningful material either demonstrating good or fake items, period photos etc. etc. not just on eBay.

But when only the link is posted once it inevitably expire in months-years ahead the post or thread becomes absolutely useless and without any context.

I’m aware copyright could be an issue in some cases but is there a fix (perhaps private albums etc?) to keep these threads relevant and of use to members.

I do wonder just how much information we have lost without realising it in the last 14 years.

I believe a photo or two can be used in an educational context without breaching copyright because under the four factors to consider when determining whether your use is a fair one. I think it passes.
Obviously only courts can decide 'fair use' but then again the person whose photo you have used has to take you to court. If most people were outraged about their photos or what they have written breaching copyright then there would be millions of cases every day because on the net it's breached every day.
Most forums have used a broad brush and won't allow it and then they won't face any risk of breach of copyright.
It's a bit like defamation, most forums won't allow anyone to criticise another seller, dealer or collector. Some forums allow criticism to be selective.
