Unkown Regimental number
Morning all , I am aware that this is a badge forum but I cam across a British War Medal WW1 with the following Service number "WSA 369 H.Peel - SKR R.I.R. " and was wondering what the WSA stands for, I think the R.I.R. is the Royal Irish Rifles ( Regt) , any assistance please?

I think "RIR" may be a lightly impressed "RNR"?
In which case the WSA indicates Warrant Skipper (Trawler Section) RNR. I forgot to mention - the "SKR" is "Skipper", RNR. Last edited by leigh kitchen; 25-05-18 at 07:50 AM. |

Quote:
WSA 368 (not 369 as stated above) Henry Webster Peel who was born in Kingston Upon Hull 25/10/1869. He was the son of James and Kate Peel (James was a sailmaker). He married Rebecca Brooks (a widow) 16/3/1917 in Hull. He died on 28/3/1924 aged 54. He died at 8 Holderness Villas, Rhodes Street, Kingston upon Hull. At the time of his death he was described as "A Trawler Skipper (Naval Reserve Pensioner"). Hope that is of some interest Paul L |
