Various wings
Does anybody know what the big SAS badge is for, presumably a blazer badge?
Secondly the SAS wing is on a green background, what does this imply? |

I agree with the blazer badge call.
SAS wing on green background look to be Rhodesian. Paul |

Its not quite the same but the resemblance of the third one to the modern SBS wing for Lovats is remarkable, but its got the wrong number of feathers and its far too dirty...
That said, I well remember a Young Officer troop at Lympstone dropping a mahoosive bollock a couple of days before their pass off parade and being made to do a mud run in their blues - although I'm fairly sure the boys from Poole usually wear different kit when they're making mud pies... |

Thank you all for your input, by the way the badge is not dirty at all just a bit tarnished.

That's really my point - it shouldn't be old enough to be tarnished if it is SBS. The new SBS insignia were only issued in 2003 - I've got wings the best part of 15 years older than that from my own uniforms that are less tarnished than that.

I would have put money on the wing being SBS
Like Royal I am surprised by the tarnish, BUT, i am sure its Shakey.
I even had an issued pair of Shakey wings with 8 feathers on one side and 9 the other. They were an early issue. I will be keen to see a positive ID. KR Jon |
