Default opinion on SAS wings

Hello,
These SAS wings come from a collection of british badges recently purchased.
Could you tell me more about their origin & when they were worn ?
Best regards

Default SAS wings

The SAS downswept wings with paper backing were made in the early 60-ies and worn by all SAS Regiments, not just by 23rd SAS as sometimes stated. This particular pattern was also worn in Malaya.

The paper back is an indication it is fairly old. There are also wings with grey carton backs and black cloth backs.

More recent, 1990 versions are most probably copies, but this particular version is original. This pattern is not very rare, but definitely nice!

Cheers,

Johan
