Grenadier Guards - Uniform - Requiring Cap Badge

A good friend has the uniform illustrated below - attributed to his grandfather, wounded on Longstop Hill (appears to have been part of the Grenadier Guards patrol in that area). He was a pre-war regular soldier in the Grenadier Guards.

WANTED - advice please:

a) The cap is lacking a cap badge and we seek advice as to what pattern is required to complete it - brass plain ball? (the jacket has no rank insignia attached, never appears to have been any)
OR does the brass band on the peak illustrate NCO?
Once we have established the correct pattern, can anyone advise where we may get an example of the correct cap badge please.

b) From the images, the cap appears to be missing chin strap and buttons - any thoughts appreciated. Do we need to seek a replacement if missing? If so - what pattern buttons would be worn? (Household Division / Grenadier Guards / General Service?).

c) Also - can anyone advise on the pattern of the stable belt and possibly date it - I do not think it looks like today's Household Division - any information appreciated.

These items are not mine, and are remaining with the family of the veteran.
The family have provided all images below.

As can be seen, buttons and epaulette insignia are King's Crown.
The veteran, served pre WW2, was wounded during WW2, and continued to serve post war - being awarded an MBE.

Plain Grenade, the single brass piece on the peak denotes Gdsm or Lcpl. In this case Gdsm.

The belt would be the white buff belt.

Any ideas what the belt in the image is please? I am way out of my comfort area but would like to help the family as much as possible if you can add any further information please

I think the stable belt may be that of "D" (Duke of Lancaster's Own) Sqadron, Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry.

Many thanks Leigh - I wonder how it came to be with the uniform? Possibly through post war service I believe the veteran did at Western Command HQ - possibly a 'pick up'.

Mike this is the Buff Belt that would have been worn. It would have had King George V lockets union though. The Tunic dates from about 1910-36. The buff loops/runners may have been the Slade Wallace type. The back of the belt may have also had 3 brass loops for the webbing also. This belt is missing its tongue.
