Default Amazing where a button can lead to !

My first posting on the South African section but hopefully I'll have done the forum a favour by recruiting a new member. It all began with me selling a 9th Gurkhas button and starting a conversation with the buyer about his interest in the Gurkhas. It turns out that he is a close family friend of an ex 9GR officer Bernard Stannard - who went on to become a Snr Supt in the BSAP also a stint with the RIC. Bernard's son Richard Stannard served with the Rhodesian SAS, Selous Scouts and South African Special Forces. The buyer has all of their uniforms, insignia and medals (see photos). I've asked him if I could share the images on the forum and I've sent him a link and hopefully he'll join us as apparently he has one of the largest collections of South African and Rhodesian Special forces insignia and medals anywhere. He lives in the USA and seemed very happy to share images and information and I explained that he'd find some like minded souls on the South African section who would truly appreciate his collection. Tim

I call that Fate!

As you enquired of his History you pulled a thread and come to where we are now with you Reminiscing, if you hadn’t of done that simple action and just sold the Button and walked away, none of this would be known and potentially you will be in touch for a long time and spark up a friendship!

I do so like our Hobby, brings like minded people together “Shush! all the infighting on the Forum too!” You know what I mean!

Really glad for you Tim, all the best Billy

I thought he lived in Texas.
It's interesting that he has a Selous Scouts cloth wing in the frame. I wonder why?
