Many years ago I bought a box of glass plate negatives containing some images of men in WW1 uniform. We are trying to identify them and their regiments and ranks. Can someone help please?

Agree that the first photo shows General List / General Service badge but the second photograph bears a strong resemblance to 1st (Royal) Dragoons. One of the badges in photo 4 is general list.

No 2 is Royal West Kents.

Looking at the right collar, I can understand the reasoning for suggesting Royal West Kents, but a close look at the left collar badge (from the perspective of the wearer) appears to show a lion astride a crown and not a horse. So, I still would suggest 1st (Royal)Dragoons.

The RWK OSD collar is a crown surmounted with a lion both over Royal West Kent. I am still with RWK.

After looking at the photos again, I am happy to concede the point. The image is blurred but you are perfectly correct Mark.

Thanks for the suggestions. The badge is definitely a lion above a crown with a three part ribbon underneath. I always thought RWK has a horse, but I just found an image on Google that seems to be a good match. This a bit strange, because I've no idea who these people are, but my grandfather was in the Royal West Kent regiment in WW1.

Looking at pic 2 the officer is definitely Royal West Kent, closer inspection of his buttons confirms it.
