Default collar badge

good morning gents,
can anyone help with this item which on the face of it looks like an ordinary west riding regiment collar badge, but on the reverse the fixings look like they could be the type which could be used for fixing to leather etc, perhaps it would have been the decoration on a belt or pouch of some sort. any observations would be most welcome.
regards andy.

Hi Yorkie. Very interesting (and puzzling) ?? The fact that it is "yellow-brass" seems to indicate pre-1881. Just a thought, but all I can offer at present. Regards. Jeff

The same fittings are found on Officers cap badges.
