Default Air Bomber

Hi my fellow badgers,
Hope you are all well and keeping yourselves amused during the lockdown.

My question has absolutely nothing to do with badges at all but if it's possible could someone tell me what roll a Air Bomber had on an a aeroplane during WW2.
Cheers.

Kev.

Could it be a version of "Bombardier" ("Air Bomber", "Air Bombardier")? Some air forces (eg USAF) used the term "Bombardier" for what the RAF termed a "Bomb Aimer".

Found a newspaper article :
"Building work begins on site of crashed WWII Lancaster bomber in Wolverhampton"

It mentions all the crew , which consisted of a pilot , flight engineer , navigator , air bomber , wireless operator and 2 air gunners.

So perhaps the term "air bomber" was used on occasion instead of the usual RAF description "bomb aimer" ?

From Wikipedia page:

RAF Bomber Command aircrew of World War II

"Air bomber" more normally called the "bomb aimer".

In the Royal Air Force, he was responsible for the pay load, he would sign for it, after inspecting it, he would arm it and then, if all went well, he would release it, hopefully, over the target area, as briefed.

Air Bomber was the official name, though Bomb Aimer was in common use.
Air Bomber's also assisted the Navigator with visual navigation, was trained in Air Gunnery and trained in straight and level flight to assist the pilot.
