Default 8 PPCLI cap badges + shoulders + more- help?

Hi all,

Offered these today and am waiting to give the owner a offer, let me know what you guys think. Here are the pictures, I was wondering if the PPCLI badges were of WW1 vintage, and if those collar boards were at all rare- of interest is the Viking badge, always wanted one of those! Looks like 3 strange university badges on the bottom right too.

Thanks

Is it possible to get better photos of the badges? There seems to be a variety of different lug arrangements on the Patricia stuff and those alone would fetch a hefty sum. They are WW1 type badges but at least some appear to be post war varieties. I would love to see some detailed photos of the front and back of those.

Check the back of those McGill COTC badges and look for a mm and date. Is it 4 CMR or 4 CMRR?

Hi Bill,

There is nothing on the backs of the University badges, and the other badge is 4 CMR- I take it badges with numbers are rarer and that the 4 CMR is much more common?

Thanks

The 4CMR badge is less common than the 4CMRR badge.

Those shoulder boards (epaulettes) appear to be Second World War vintage tropical to me. Was there a late WW1 uniform that utilized removable shoulder boards?

If you do get them I would be interested in one of the PPCLI badges.

Always an option for privately tailored Khaki Drill, especially by Captains who expected promotion to Major and did not wish to have the holes caused by the 'pips' evident.

Hey guys,

for the Eagle/Airforce badge, is there some sort of difference between the eagle facing left and right? I have seen a few variations and can't recall why there is a difference.

Here is another picture of the opposite facing birds, maybe one is newer, denotes different service or is made by a different manufacture? Here are the other pictures of the PPCLI stuff and cool looking RFC wings

The owner probably figured that they could get more money elsewhere.

There has been a ton of Marguerite badges on ebay lately. Another group of 6 badges sold not long ago for $750. Wish I had some disposable income right now so that I could have added some nice variants to my collection.

Well, thats what happens when you wait too long - didn't even know they were sold and was waiting for a phone call!
