Default 2 Gurkha badges for inspection please

Hi Gents,
Please see the 2 badges attached, your opinions on authenticity would be greatly appreciated.
The 2nd King Edward's own style pin badge may not be Gurkha related at all? Due to the "ich Dien" motto being missing! Nice little badge though.

And I wonderered if the 1st Gurkha badge should be cast & not die stamped.
Many Thanks in advance
Colin

Hi Colin - the 1G badge is a nice original example of probably an officers cap badge worn on the Kilmarnock Hat - circa 1911>1938. The same design was worn by all ranks on the Gurkha Hat during the same period. The second badge is quite intriguing - it looks locally made - but not sure its 2G. It's quite crude and doesn't have ICH DIEN on the scrolls. It could be a servants or a followers badge or it could be another Indian regiment entirely. Also most 2 G badges would have been blackened brass - I've seen boss badges like this made in WW2 when supplies from the UK were difficult to come by - but even the small boss badges had the scrolls inscribed. It could be a sweetheart brooch? I'd still be interested in it if you ever wanted to move it on? Cheers Tim
