Default Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment

Can you give me any info on the QOGLR who I have just been told is now part of 10 Transport Regt RLC.
How are they formed within the regiment I.e. A "stand alone" unit say 10 Gurkha Squadron RLC ??
What badge do they wear, the QOGLR one in bi metal? Is there an anodised version? Do the officers wear a silver/gilt badge? Do the officers wear a o.r. Collar badge in the beret?
Any help would be greatly received on this matter. Thanks

Default QOGLR

Not really wishing to be rude, but why in hell do people on here ask the members questions that with a little searching on Google most of the answers can be found. I have just done a search on there with regards to your question and a lot of the answers are there, John.

Here you go a mix of the Mod Page and my own notes which not much is published on the net in one place:

Quote:
The Queen's Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR), formerly The Queen's Own Gurkha Transport Regiment (QOGTR), The Gurkha Transport Regiment (GTR) and The Gurkha Army Service Corps (GASC), was formed as a component part of The Brigade of Gurkhas on 1 July 1958.

Her Majesty the Queen approved the redesignation of The Gurkha Transport Regiment (GTR) as The Queen's Own Gurkha Transport Regiment (QOGTR) in 1992.

The Regiment officially became The Queen's Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR) on 5 April 2001
also 10 Transport Regiment is now known as 10 Regt QOGLR.

The Regiment is officered by RLC Officers on secondment as well as by Queens Gurkha Officers who are all selected from the ranks.

There was a QOGTR Anodised badge, but the QOGLR was produced in Bi-Metal from the start.

Officers wear a small 'all ranks' collar badge in the beret, there is no Officer Gilt Badge produced. However there is a larger Cross Belt Badge which is worn when in service dress however.

Gurkha Senior Ranks & Officers also wear RLC Mess Dress but with QOGLR Buttons & small silver arm badge.

No you are not getting away with those remarks, time is precious to everyone. No one, least of all me objects to going out of our way to recearch information for a legitimate question, but in your case the question you asked you could have looked up in the time it took you to post up the query. If you are too buisy or idle to look up such a banal question then why would you expect others to do mit for you. John.

Default The QOGLR RLC

I still have quite a few contacts in the RLC, "Driver trade of course"
and if you need some detailed info on the regt, and their badges, I'll be happy to oblige.

I've been out since 1995, and never relised how much the structure within has changed over the years, ...... amazing. I have noticed though that most of the Sqn's are UK Transport Sqn's from my days, so they might not "all" be manned by Gurkha soldiers.

Here is some more usless info for you's, so sit down, shut up and listen.

Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (Silver Crossed Kukris)
~ Mess Dress Embellishment

Both Gurkha and British Officers & Senior Ranks in the 'Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment' wear the same Mess Dress as the RLC, but with Black QOGLR Buttons on the shoulder epaulets/twists, and a small Silver Crossed Kukris badge on the left arm.

Other embellishments within the 'Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment' include the wearing of Black 'Light Infantry' Cross Belt by both Gurkha and British Officers with the Gurkha brimmed hat with QOGLR Cap Badge when in Service Dress, and wearing of the QOGLR Collar Badge by All Officers with the Beret, plus wearing the Gurkha TRF in No8 (Combat) Dress.

I hope this doesn't cause too many problems for some of you.
