3rd VB Devonshire Regiment
I don't have any books to help me with VBs. Anyone have pictures of good or bad ones? I have a badge,KC, which I forgot to take a picture of today, probably too good to be true as it was bought localy -Devon. Will have to beg the camera again.

Devon 002.jpgDevon 004.jpg I expect the badge should match the shape of the added scroll, but I've not seen an original or restrike to know for sure. I collect WWI. I know there are a lot of 4th VB restrikes. Any thoughts? Cheers, Paul. |

Big bump. Have now seen a picture of a similar badge, Bosleys mail sale 20 Oct 2004, no. 259. As a couple of years have gone by, anyone else got one to compare pictures with? Cheers, Paul.

I think but am not 100% that there was one in the last Wallis And Wallis sale before Christmas in the Walter Lambert Collection Pt.3. W&W don't illustrate too many of their lots but there were quite a lot of excellent VB's in that sale which had decent pictures (and I forgot to save as references). However it may have been the previous one Pt.2. Anyone got catalogues? Keith |

Paul, just noticed in the latest Bosleys catalogue (20/1/10 ) number 380 is a 3rd vb Devonshire with applied scroll, allegedly from the Hugh King collection priced at £50 - £75, with a 4th vb at number 381 for £40-£60 !!

The one in 2004 went for £88, so I'd like to see a picture of the reverse of one. Good match from the front to that one. Don't have the Bosley catalogues these days, credit crunch etc! Cheers, Paul.

3rd Volunteer Bn Devonshire Regiment
This is my first post on this forum so here goes and a happy new year.
I have a white metal Devonshire Regiment badge with the "3rd VOLR BATTN" scroll attached with the 2 wire fixings. I have used photobucket to host the photos, is there a more appropriate way. 20/6/16 I am now quite convinced that this badge is a recent fake. 29/12/17 Pictures updated Last edited by Rob Miller; 29-12-17 at 02:23 PM. |

Hi Team, my first post this year; so happy new year. Just a quicky, I see you mentioned that the 4th is plenty faked. Whats your take on this one. I'll put the back up later.
Regards Simon. |

Hi Simon I think these two are restrikes, one white metal the other brass, they appear to be from the same dies as they both have a low part in the outer ring on the left between the B & T and some of the letters like the "V" in Devon also have the same deformity. Regards Rob. 29/12/2017 pictures replaced they are fakes Last edited by Rob Miller; 29-12-17 at 02:37 PM. |

This chap would appear to be the Drum Major of one of the Devonshire Volunteer Battalions, the photo was taken by a Tiverton Photographer and posted in Tiverton on December 17th 1907.
I can't get the detail any clearer but it certainly looks like the Devonshire badge with the added scroll. The Buttons look like 3rd Bn but it could almost be a 5?? |
