Unidentified sweetheart brooch, est 1900-1950?

Hello all, from a newbie. I am wondering if anyone can help me identify this sweetheart brooch, which was left to me.

It was referred to by the giver as 'The King's Badge' which doesn't seem to mean anything, at least to me. The person who I think was the original owner, or the owner's husband, served as a medic in the RAMC in the WWI trenches, with a machine gun battalion on the front line at the First Battle of Ypres, and later in Mesopotamia. He received the Mons Star and the usual WWI service medal(s).

Hello,

The badge represents the cap badge of a General in the British Army.
It appears of excellent quality and should be gold and silver.

Is it hallmarked on the rear?

Thank you, Simon - that's most helpful. The brooch isn't hallmarked, but the previous and original owners said it was made of gold, and the 'sword' is silver-coloured. The red in the crown is enamel.

A lovely badge,and as already stated the design is that of a general officers badge.
