This is an old thread, but I thought I'd add the one flocked title I have. The Canada title is stitched to the 8 NBH one.

I have passed over these flashes before thinking they were reproductions.

Any provenance on them James?

Unfortunately no provenance... Other than they came from an antique dealer in Nova Scotia.

I am leaning toward a souvenir, maybe a reunion or something along that line. They obviously haven't been worn, and the construction would not stand up to any wear in the field.

Flocked titles
As a collector of British items I read this thread with interest. Flocked badges briefly made an appearance in the UK during the early 1950's, but only for battalions of the Home Guard during its reincarnation.
I've attached a scan of one for info, showing the rubber backing. Unfortunately, apart from them being Ordnance issue, I know nothing about the UK manufacturer. The second photo is of these titles on a battledress. From this you can see the embroidered 'HOME GUARD' title and the flocked battalion designation. Stephen. |

The North Nova Scotia Highlanders flashes shown by James S were made by the Nova Scotia Tattoo (along with cap badges for the NNSH) for a scene that they did quite a few years ago.

Thanks Gary. It is amazing the provenances that explain insignia.

Interesting. Makes sense given the construction. Thanks for the info Gary.
