Default A few for identification

Gents, three I've had for a while. The gun badge I believe may have been touted here before. The small strip appears military, but cannot identify. The larger badge appears to have some age and research turning up very little. Any assistance greatly received.

Hi Bess, unable to help, however the top right looks like an old scout 'Patrol' badge from the 1970's, Regards Mark

Regarding the larger badge, surely an old Grammar School or similar with that motto, possibly with a Nautical connection given the Dolphin and Unicorn. (Or Horse)

Simon.

Thank you chaps.

The scouts direction gives me a start point - thank you Mark

I cant find anything that specifically ties the Latin; 'experience and training' to the larger badge. I think the animals are (oddly) a bull and a dolphin . . . . Curious. Thanks Simon

The bull may be a reference to a "papal bull" and the dolphin to a royal seal?

Large badge may have some connection to Finsbury , their old Coat of Arms (crest) has some similarities.

"The supporters were a winged bull, emblem of St. Luke; and an heraldic dolphin, symbol of St. James."

Red Gun = Sea Cadet Corps Field Gun (Team, Crew or what ever), that is what I was told about 10 or more years back.

Scouts Patrol badge is for the 'Merlin Patrol' - issued post 1967 with the revamping of The Scout Association (the move away from Scouts, Senior and Rover Scouts to Scouts and Venture Scouts)

Thanks Bob. The one I acquired amongst an 'all sorts' bag years ago is indeed as Wooffy described 'The Merlin Patrol'.

And that means absolutely nothing to me I'm afraid.
