Default WHAT IS SO UNUSUAL ABOUT THIS OTC SHOULDER TITLE??

I came across this seller who appears to have a good selection of the badges I tend to collect. In particular, I was following this one with a view to hopefully adding it to my collection:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154653438...53.m1438.l2649

I was a little concerned there may have been some 'shill bidding' going on, but the vendor assured me the bidder was well known to him. Notwithstanding, I was somewhat taken aback by the eventual sale price and was wondering whether there was anything 'special' about this particular OTC ST (Westlake 1652/Rawlings 13) ?

I'm fully aware of 'Demand & Supply', but this seemed to take it to a level beyond even my deep pockets.

As it happens, the same buyer also bought 2 other Cadet ST that I was
following from the same vendor: the total of all 3 STs coming to £596 .

Default OTC badges

There seems to be no lacking of money for OTC badges of all kinds at the moment, possibly two or three collectors building up collections in competition with each other.

Wait till they have all satisfied their collections are complete and watch the prices drop. Some thirty or so years ago Italian fascist arm shields were making big money, now they are a job to sell.

The same seller also had a RWF 1st London Welsh shoulder title which sold for £425.

No surprise to me on what either of those referred to achieved.

Could be that someone wanted this variant to go with the other variant of this s/t (fat vs thin).

The s/t also seems to be rarer than the cap badge as well.

To the same buyer as the 3 x OTC Shoulder Titles I mentioned in my opening comment. The other 2 STs purchased were the West End (Ravenscourt Park) Cadet Corps and the Stamford/C/School. 4 badges - £1,000+ equals deep pockets.
