Default DSO, DFC and DFM Medal Citations

Hello all,

I am conducting a research project for my Air Cadet squadron and could use some pointers. We are dedicating a flight sim suite to a late RAF chap, who was close with our Squadron. He sadly passed away in 2019 and we supplied an honour guard/banner team at his service, as one of his last wishes. We are currently making up a display detailing his RAF career, and have successfully otained all of his Gazette entries. Unfortunately, I have hit a wall in sourcing his medal citations (text) to accompany his DSO, DFC and DFM. It seems that the citations are available somewhere, as several sources quoted a few lines from each one in obituaries, but I cannot seem to have any luck.

His name was:

Squadron Leader William Craig Brodie DSO, DFC, DFM
His service number is 49225
He served with 602 City of Glasgow Squadron
38 Squadron
692 Pathfinder Squadron

If anyone can provide a link or scans of his three citations, that would be a fantastic help! I would love to give the kids something inspiring to read. He was also Mentioned in Despatches, but I have no records of that other than the London Gazette entry.

Cheers,
Jeff

Not sure if this helps , mention of a "joint citation".

Many thanks for that steer. I now have a copy of the Gazette downloaded for his DSO.

The one I am still struggling with the most is his DFM citation. I know it was an operation against Benghazi harbour in 1942, but would love to get a copy of the full story.

Extract from "Flight - Service Aviation" magazine dated January 4th 1945.

Quote:
THE KING has been graciously pleased to approve the following awards in recognition of gallantry displayed in flying operations against the enemy : —

Distinguished Service Order

Wing Cdr. R. J. GOSNELL, D.F.C., R.A.F., No. 571 Sqn.

Act. Sqn. Ldr. W. C BRODIE, D.F.M., R.A. F., No. 692 Sqn.

Act. Sqn. Ldr E. J. GREENLEAF, R.A.F., No. 571 Sqn.

One night in October, 1944, a force of bombers was detailed for an important low-level mining mission, an operation requiring considerable skill and accuracy in flying. The target was strongly defended by heavy and light anti-aircraft guns, searchlights and balloons Undeterred by these hazards and the most adverse weather, the operation was completed successfully. The success achieved reflects the greatest credit on the personnel mentioned.
