Hello Spencer. Your badge is post 1948 CCF. This is an OTC one. Not sure of it. Would be very interested to see others as a relative who went to Dollar Academy Died with the Cammeronians at High Wood.

Haven't seen the OTC version but they look very similar in their Manufacture . I haven't seen many of these badges around at all ( Ebay as well ) So it might indicate they are not faked all that much .

Picture sent by Dollar Academy of an earlier badge. Not sure of the date of change, probably 1908 though I have a Dollar Institution S/T that I think was worn at the same time as the WM Academy badge. Anyone got any more Dollar Academy info?

The Dollar Academy CCF has long links with the Argylls and wore their cap badge up to the formation of the Royal Regt of Scotland. The School magazine shows both in use in 2011 when the changeover of the regular battalion to a ceremonial company occured.

The OTC wore the cadet badge until at least 1918. From 1908-18 the school OTC was actually Dollar Institution OTC and wore a s/t with that name on. It became an Academy in 1918 and that was when the shield design with DA on it was designed. I did wonder whether the oTc wore the A&SH regular battalion badge 1908-18 but the school archives show otherwise and it was the cadet badge. |
