Hope I am not putting my size 12's in the brown stuff, but I am fairly confident that the badge on display via the link below is a fake.

The number 4 looks all wrong compared to the reference books I have. But as the seller states, it is NOT REPRO!!

The starting price of £4.99 is an absolute bargain when you consider the same badge is on sale with Buywyze for over £400.

What are your thoughts? Is the seller generous in the extreme, oblivious to the true value of the badge, or trying to pass off a fake?

There is a problem here and that is as far as I am aware the unit's abdge were not officially provided. They either had Gaunts make them up some die-cast ones privately or bastardised the official CLY ones and removed the CLY overlay and put on a home made numeral.

Is every one sure it is the cap and not the collar badge. Cheers Sean.

While I'm not saying the link below is connected with the badges on this thread, it's worrying for the future.

Hi, it looks like the middle east version of the collar badge, worn as cap badge, as the 4 is placed quite high. One could only tell by looking at the back. The lugs would be made from flat strips and the manufacturers name would not be as crisp as the Sheffield made ones. Most of this was covered in depth on a previous thread about the CLY. Hope this helps Mike
