Default Malayan Emergency

I have just added an album of insignia worn by various local units during the Malayan Emergency. Unfortunately my poor IT skills have led to them appearing in the wrong order.

The Federation of Malaya Police were formed in 1948 for the Emergency, by the ex-Inspector-General of the Palestine Police. He brought with him 500 British police sergeants to act as a cadre, many of them ex-Palestine Police too. The force served throughout the Emergency, until it was disbanded in 1963.

The Home Guard were raised from local people to defend their own villages. Their badge come with fittings for both uniforms and with pin-backs for wear on native clothing.

I don't know much about the Jungle Force. This badge is for 8 Coy. Identical badges exist attached to a plaque in the regimental museum at Chester. These include 1 to 21 Coys (excluding 13) and 50 Coy. There is also a photo there of the badge being worn by a patrol of Sarawak Rangers together with an unidentified shoulder title.

1) Selection of WM police shoulder titles.
2) Current Malaysian police badges, police id number and NCO rank bars.
3) Federal Jungle Force head-dress badge and pinback breast badge (for
native dress?)
4) Khaki eppaulette (written on rear as coming from HG during emergency)
plus cap badges & collar badge.
5) Detail of Malayan Home Guard in white metal with enamel inlay.
6) MFP WM cap badge and silver collar badges.
7) Buttons worn by MFP
8) Malay Federation Regiment

Hope these are of interest. Stephen.

Default Malayan Emergency

Hi,

Last time I checked the photos were in an album under the 'All Albums' button at the top of the page. You'll probably have to go back some way to find them.

Regards, Stephen.

Default Badge Jpegs required for ongoing Malayan Emergency Project

As an ongoing project I am doing on the Malayan Emergency 1948 -1960 can any member kindly let me have a Jpeg copy of the cap badge of the 13/18 Hussars KC and the 12 Lancers KC.

Also does anyone know when the KC went over to the QC, I realise that the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was on the 02 June 1953. but what date did the military actually start to re-issue the QC.

Thanks
Arthur 257
