Cavalry badges re-submitted for comments due to system problem yesterday
Hi All (thread re-submitted as the thumbnails were lost from the system yesterday)
Continuing to sort out my dodgy from genuine items and have added pics of another 4 cavalry badges for your consideration/comments as to their authenticity. 13th Hussars badge is very thin but well struck (I have heard mention of some badges being struck thinner than usual as an economy measure, is this fact or fantasy and if fact could this badges be one of them). 7th DG badge feels right and the only concern I have is with the rather crude slider although there is no sign of it ever having been replaced. 1st LG badge, genuine or copy, if genuine what is the reason for the long slider. RHG badge was "painted" brown when I got it, someone's crude attempt at making it look like bronze, so I have removed the thick brown paint. I have seen it mentioned in Gaylor's book that he had seen a version of this badge in polished brass. Makers mark on rear is A&W Ltd Bham. Many thanks in advance Paddy |
