No.I Battery Wellington Artillery Volunteers,NZ 1867

My two times great grandfather, Scottish born James Rickard ( b.1842 )was a foundation member of the No. I Battery Wellington Artillery Volunteers when it was formed in August 1867.
On 8 June 1873 at age 31 years, Corporal Rickard died in Wellington and was buried at the local cemetery with a military funeral.
Sometime between leaving Aberdeen University around 1861 and marrying fellow countrywoman Elizabeth Knowles in Wellington,NZ on 27 September 1867 my elusive ancestor James Rickard emmigrated to this country.
Despite all efforts to learn which ship he set sail to NZ on, either as an individual or military personnel ,and on what date etc would be great to find out. Ports of departure and arrival and respective date would be much appreciated.
Hopefully there may be someone out there who can find out the answers to my queries.
If James Rickard was attached to the military prior to his departure from Scotland he could well have landed at any port in New Zealand besides Wellington where he was resident some two years prior to his marriage.

There is a Rickard listed as a passenger arriving on the barque Minerva, sailed from London arrived NZ 27th February 1961, could be your relative.

The Wellington Artillery Volunteers was officially formed 22nd July 1867, your two times great grandfather was one of the first 30 to enroll in August 1867.

Perhaps the information from your 2014 thread on another site may help us narrow down dates etc.

Do you known which year he left the University at Aberdeen? He received the bronze medal for art from the Department of Science and Art in 1861.

He married on 27 September 1867 but had been in Wellington for at least two and a half years.

James Rickard, Batchelor, [ occupation] Turner, [ age] 25 years, [ reside] Wellington [for] 2 1/2 years [ at ] private residence of John McLean, Roxburgh Street.
