Default Defence Medal

Hello,

I have found this medal attributed to 232876 I. G. Beukes. It seems to be a South African one. Is it possible to confirm this origin ?

Correct, a South African Defense medal to a member in the H.Q.O.C. Troops, Premier Mine

Headquarters Operational Command Troops.

I suspect it was like a reserve pool of troops not allocated to a specific unit, but that is just a thought.

I think that you can get some SA research done if you want to. I got a file for an ex-colleague's late father who was a POW taken at Tobruk. Filled in a few gaps for her and not that expensive.
