Default British Columbia Dragoons query

Hi, picked up this badge this morning. Can anyone elaborate on it? Is it bling or actually made for some specific purpose? The silver plating is very well done, thanks in advance Mike

Nice badge. It looks like an officer's badge.

First one I've ever seen. I have seen other rank's cap badges to different units where it appears that parts of the badge have been masked and the desired portion of the badge silver plated. I don't believe this was done officially and makes me wonder if it was done by/for the collectors' market.

Chris Brookner lists it in his books on cap badges, volume 2 I think

Hi, thank you for the information, at least it may be a real badge. Hopefully someone will know what Chris says about it, living ever in hope, Mike

Here's my example. Note that mine has reversed colours, silver annulus while the official badge is in gilt with a silver banner. Mine has a pin while yours has lugs. Yours is made by BIRKS while mine is by Scully. Interesting differences and I suspect my example with the reversed colours is now probably a sweetheart pins, yours with the lugs and correct colours perhaps a economy officers badge? Just an idea.

PS. I think another just sold on eBay but it just had a silvered leaf.

Hi Greg, thank you for the information and images. I don't know what to make of it. Did the Canadians make economy officers' badges? You seem to be the go to expert after looking at your album. It filled me equally with hope and despair to see so many badges I would like to have in my collection. Well thanks again and best wishes Mike.
