One off the wanted list!
Finally, after years of searching I managed to purchase the last missing key element of a Chaplain's field communion set: a 1944 dated oak wood pyx. It meaures 3x3x1 inch.
It was described as a compass box but I was fortunate to find it as the manufacturer's name was stated; they are well known for making military communion sets. |

What a great find after all the years of searching; I don't suppose there are many of them in existence.
As has been stated on here numerous times, there is still stuff out there waiting to be found. Regards. Brian |

Thanks guys!
The good thing is that I won it for £10.50 which was just a small fraction of my bid. |

Congratulations, proof that research pays dividends and the bargains are out there still on well known auction sites!

And great that it only cost a few ounces.

Great news.
I'm so glad you finally found one! In a similar vein I recently obtained a rare medical officers opthalmic and hypodermic medicines case being sold as a calling card case with its arrow mark. Your wooden pyx is exactly like the one I had in my communion kit.

Thanks Matt! What made you decide to stop collecting RAChD?
