Default Riker Cases

I've been looking at potentially purchasing some Riker cases in order to display some of my badges and am not sure how well either the standard, divided or wood cases would work for this purpose?

Here is a display of modern cavalry badges. Each badge is mounted on a piece of coloured ‘fun foam’ and placed in the compartments of a 7 x 5 Riker Case with a glass lid. The cases measure 12” by 16” and are made of reinforced black cardboard with flock covered plastic inserts available in various colours.

UK supplier of Riker products (I have no connection other than as a customer).

Thanks Tim

Those were one of the options I was looking at and wasn't sure how well they would work with badges - they look perfect.

I like and use Riker cases to display my favorite pieces, but am looking for some cheap option for keeping the balance in an organized and presentable way. I like what Jerry does, using less expensive plastic cases with compartments and lids that close. I'm still looking for one that will hold my cap badges and so far have not found one - compartments are too small. But I am sure there are some out there.

You can see my displays here, and one nice thing about Riker cases, is nothing is permeant and no glue or tape is required. I rearrange mine as nicer items are obtained.

Hope this helps,

Terry

I use a range of the "Really Useful Box" mainly the 9ltr size. They have a tray with 15 compartments and you can fit 4 trays to a box so a total of 60 badges can be displayed and stored at the same time.
Thanks for the mention Terry.

Thank you Terry and Jerry

I’m really liking the solutions you have.

Jerry - are these the trays you use?

I also use the "Really Useful" 9ltr boxes (thanks Jerry) in various combinations , as a basic box , with the 15 compartment trays or the 7 compartment trays.

The 7 compartment trays are twice as deep (2 fit in a box) and the larger compartments are handy for 'outsize' items.(see photo)

Lots of sites selling them but prices vary a lot depending on :
1. How many you want.
2. With or without compartment trays.
3. Postage !

Have just ordered 4 more 15 compartment trays , £2.50 each , VAT £2.65 and postage £3.25 = Total £15.90.

"Really Useful" site would have charged £11.99 for postage !

Wow - that is a hefty difference in terms of postage!!!

I’ll definitely shop around to try and get the best deal as I really like the look of these as a low cost solution.

Are there any sites you’d recommend?

When I bought the boxes I did a lot of searching and it all depends on what you want , the biggest difference I found was the postage.

Some sites include VAT in the initial price ....other don't , so best bet is to make a "trial" order of everything you want and see what the final total is. Then do the same on other sites and compare the totals.

9 Litre box

Really Useful site : £6.86 inc VAT

Gemini : £4.20 excluding VAT

I have used this site and found the 'basic' price may be slightly higher than the "Really Useful" site for some items but when postage is added they are a lot cheaper.

Just checked out a post I made in April and discovered that I "splashed out" and got next day delivery which cost me ........ £5.95 !

That was the total postage for 2 x 9ltr boxes and 2 x 7 compartment trays.

You can buy these from Hobbycraft if you have one nearby. They do a large selection of these boxes.

I started using the "really useful" trays a while back following a similar post on the forum that started this thread off. - best I can find is £2.74 per tray at CPC

https://cpc.farnell.com/really-usefu...2mm/dp/SG33121

...and if you spend over £17.50 - postage is free (I'd rather buy more product than spend on postage).

For those in the North West of England, CPC are just off the M6 at Preston and have a good counter service too (so if you are passing, and want less and don't want to pay postage )

Thank you for all of your help everyone.

I’ve decided to go with the Really Useful 9L box and trays for the smaller badges and a 12 divider Riker case for the larger Scottish badges. 👍
