Default Looking for help on the 62nd

Can anyone please tell me about the 62nd Base Depot - presumably here in WA.

My great uncle, when he first enlisted in Perth in Mar 1916 as Private 6028, was attached to 62nd Base Depot.

Where was this? Did the Depot have a badge or patch? Was it basically a training camp? I can't seem to find anything in WWI records with that number attached.

Six months later he was a Corporal with the 28th and by Sep 1916 was E.D.P. Sergeant. His departure from Australia was Nov 1916 and he remained with the 28th until the end of the war, with a rank of Lieutenant.

Thanks for any light you may be able to shine on this.

Default Oooops

Many apologies.
I've post my request in the wrong forum.

Could an administrator please move it to where it belongs?
Thank you.

They would have worn a Rising Sun hat badge.

Default Thank you

Thanks for your reply, Mick.

Would a Base Depot be mostly clerical and supply type duties?

Hi bc. I like your "shinies".
