I'm not clued up on these but possibly an Imperial Prussian Guard NCO's collar button.
The star is, I think, used as a military police badge now by the German army.

The Feldjäger are the military police of the Bundeswehr, Germany's armed forces. Their badge is the same as the button

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feldj%C3%A4ger

The badge is derived from the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle.

far too small for an NCO collar button comparing the button to the shank size.

The design is of the Order of the Black Eagle and it has been listed by sellers as a Prussian court servant's button.
It has been reproduced for the fashion industry. Your button is genuine.

While you are hunting for buggers using the forum to identify their items, have a look at this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Early-Pru...sAAOSwimRe1ih2

Never told us it was heading for ebay.
