Irishhose,

Thanks!

The smaller cap badge is of interest too and I will look into this as well.

Don't suppose you have rear images hidden away do you?

Hi Guys,

When I eventually get everything together (which I hope will be relatively soon) I will go through all 'wanted' names here and contact everyone to see if they are still interested.

Thanks!

Chris

Interested, would of loved 'No Bull' but could not justify it as outside my time frame, but I could go for this one if at the sort of price mentioned. Be good to get to grips with what is in use now, and your standards of illustration set the bar. Please contact if published. Regards, Paul.

Hi Wardog,

The costs involved in 'No Bull' were quite considerable including publishing software, cameras and lenses, trips from NZ to UK and within UK itself, advertising, web site - I could go on and on. Getting items for photographing from UK to NZ and having them shipped via international courier both ways due to the values involved often cost the price of a single copy and the 45quid shipping from NZ to UK did not help although this was mitigated to some extent when I managed to ship a pallet load to my UK helper for UK only sales.

Oddly the biggest buyers were from the USA selling more books there than UK and rest of world combined. This time it will be more of a UK thing without any direct advertising working on word of mouth. I may possibly sell on eBay and Amazon although these days to sell on Amason is expensive and very difficult. Note that I will have books for the Oz collectors even though I do not envisage a high number of copies printed with around 150 being my preference at the moment.

Pricing is a lot cheaper as mentioned as the initial purchase of software and gear does not occur a second time around and I am hoping to print in UK which will certainly curtail postage costs. I have not had to travel to obtain official info either.

Still, working with the printer but I am optimistic on a result there and hope to get this all sorted before Christmas.

Were have we heard that before...

Chris

Hi Chris,

I probably have mentioned it before but I'll be keen for a copy when available.

I've already said I'd like a copy but I think that was on a different thread, so belt and braces......

Hi Guys,

The book is now at the printers and a proof is being created.

Costs not fully sorted out yet due to issues (so that I am told) with couriers in UK and lack of capacity.

I do hope to keep the price under 50GBP inc. postage to UK addresses but I have had to pay extra at the printers for cellophane covering (winter in UK) and individual boxes for posting etc. I have also upgraded the quality of the book to sewn binding - this alone added an extra 8GBP to each book's printing costs. This should help with longevity though and keep the book nice.

Book will also be hardback and paper is silk 130gsm in letter size (8.5 x 11 inches). Page count is now 250 pages. Only 150 copies will be printed of which 20 odd will come to me in New Zealand for myself and family or be donated to individuals and military charities leaving just 130 for sale to collectors.

The book is late as at the last minute another four badges came right out of left field. These had to be accounted for and acquired for photographing.

Not taking orders just yet but I will contact everyone who has expressed an interest on this thread to see if they are still interested when the physical item actually gets to my UK distributor. My hope is that the books are sold entirely via the forum and not via eBay or Amazon as this type of transaction seems to get harder all the time. Also, I will have to increase the price if sold via these mediums to cover their costs, PayPal etc.

The book is written from an official perspective although I have allowed a certain amount of anecdotal evidence in. I hope it will be of interest to all collectors of modern British Army insignia.

Regards,

Chris
