Dear 54 bty

many thanks for the information regarding hodges book.

Unfortunately i do not have a copy. Is there any chance of posting the item on the forum or sending me a copy to my home email address admin@signalsbadges.co.uk

would be most interested in seeing it.

Thanks again for the interest and time taken to answer.

Kind regards

Hodges entry as indicated by 54BTY states that the two piece badge on the Stewart taratan is for a slouch hat. Could be relevant.

Regards all

Default Gurkha Sigs 2 Piece badge

Dear 54bty

Please post the page 82 in Hodges book. I have tried 16 different people to get an email of the page with no joy.

Even happy for you to send it to my home address admin@signalsbadges.co.uk

My guru Cliff Lord has recently come back to me and said he can't help me.

Nice to have a thread go on for so long though.

Kind regards

Chris Walker

Default gurkha sigs badges

Thanks Marc

I will be putting two new badges on my site soon. One is an Officers Gilt and Silver version and the other is a metal version like you have shown here.

Nice to see

Chris

Hi Guys,

I checked my single piece yesterday and noted that it was of a non anodised metal but marked 'F&S' like many later anodised cap badges.

As such, I will be taking it off the web page later and asking for an image if anyone has one.

Regards

Chris

Default Another 2 Piece badge

Dear All

Just checked my version today and found that it is also a 2 piece badge. It is pretty obvious that it has been constructed in this way and is not made up by breaking the crown off another badge. It was obtained quite a few years ago and the brass plate looks like it has been shaped (rounded) for wear.

Default gurkha signal 2 piece cap badge

Dear Paddy.

Of all the posts on this Thread, yours is the only badge I have seen that actually looks the part. I have seen an example exactly the same as this from Cliff Lord. It is the first time I have seen two identical badges as Cliff says his came with a back plate as well.

As I started this thread as mentioned above Paddy. I think I must say that yes there was a two piece Gurkha Signals badge.

However, not all the badges I have seen are genuine.

Many thanks Paddy.

Hi Paddy,

I've been doing some work on lugs lately and this looks like it was made by FIRMIN. Can you provide a rear view shot of the badge and describe any maker marks that you see.

Regards

Chris

Default 2 piece gurkha sig badge

Bess.

I now concede. Yours now make three all the same. I am told by Cliff Lord they were probably made in Hong Kong.

If I can get hold of one I will definately put it in my site.

Thanks for the view

Cheers

Chris

Lugs look like those used by FIRMIN (don't know if they made them or contracted them in) but I still need a lot more information on items such as these.

See:

http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ead.php?t=5347

and if you can contribute please do.

Chris

Default 2 Piece Gurkha Signals Cap Badge

Deaqr All.

As this Thread seems to have caused some interest in the past and as I now have one of my own. I thought I would just point out that there seems to be one for sale on ebay currently as at 16th Sept 2012.

Item number is 110949603575

It looks genuine !!!!!!???????

Good luck to someone. Be aware. They do not come up for sale very ofter. It took me a long time to obtain one.

Best wishes

Chris Walker
