Default HELP WITH METAL EAGLE BADGE

HI there , could some of you Airforce types take a look at this badge and offer an opinion on the eagle please ?
This is a combined operations sign but instead of a ` woven ` eagle it has a brass type with stiff folding pins to the rear , my question is please , is this a normal ( known ) piece of Airforce insignia that the badge maker has used or does it appear to be ` fresh` made .
hope you can help , regards ,Nemo.

It looks like the eagle off of an officers cap badge. Similar eagles are worn on No 1 uniform by NCO aircrew above the Sgts chevrons on the upper arm but I'd have thought if one of these were used they'd have used the eagle facing the other way (They face opposite directions so they always face rearwards) so that it would match the direction that the rifle is pointing.

The bird should be facing forwards in the same direction as the gun's pointing.
Not many RSM's would miss that one!

Default US Lookalike ?

Hi all. Can I throw a (small) spanner in the works ?
Nemo's badge looks to me amazingly like the attached US Navy WW2 Amphibious Forces (Pacific) flash..or am I completely "up the spout" ??

To me, and this is ONLY my opinion. It simply does not look right to me. As mentioned above more than once, the eagle should face the same direction as the rifle (in regards to a Combined Operations Insignia)

Also, my own opinion ONLY, this does not appear the same as the WW2 US Navy patch above, the eagle is the wrong direction, from the rifle, and the wings of the bird are far too narrow.

Default Possably Navy mustering??

Hi Nemo,

Can you give the size of the badge. I think it might be a Navy mustering badge worn on the lapel by CPO's. If this is so than it should be one of a pair with the birds facing in, i would have thought that the guns would also have faced inward (same direction as bird).

Neville

Hi there many thanks for help so far .
tHE SIZE IS 45 MM in length and has a slightly hollow back with to very sturdy foldind pins.

This is the 3rd one ive handled and all are constructed the same ,certainly English manufacture,
each one has the same format IE
gun facing left / eagle facing right.

I understand the comments on dress regulations regarding the eagle facing ` in or out` but units under Combined operations did often ignore this any more help suggestions welcome, best wishes ,Michael.
