Default RAF Officer

Hi All
I thought this photo might be of interest. I got this from a colleague some years ago. It is his uncle who was in the RAF in 1918/19 and shows him wearing the new cap badge with the single bar each side denoting a 2nd Lt or Lt rank.

Alex,
Very nice photo. In theory the colour of tunic and cap is khaki and it was taken in 1918, as the rank bars were abolished in October 1918. It's also interesting to note that cap badge looks to be of the solid metal type and not bullion embroidery as is more normally seen. Attached is an example of the type of badge being worn.
