Default Machine Gun Corps - Applied Numeral "6".

"Wots Going On Ere Then?

This is a bit of a Curio, A Machine Gun Corps (Genuine) Cap Badge with and Applied Numeral "6".

Has someone created a fantasy item, or does anyone have another explanation?

Andy

I reckon it was made in Blackpool!

Unfortunately the links don't work anymore but the dealer from Blackpool was notorious for creating made up badges by fixing different parts of badges to each other to make 'Frankenstein' badges.

While I was looking for the above link, I found this one that made me laugh and realise how funny this forum could be!

The number '6' is French or Belgian in origin as found on epaulettes etc. The fantasy MGC badges are still doing the rounds saw an MGC HERTS at Birmingham last Sunday!

regards
