Smile WW1 Cavalry Collection

Hi all,

Nearly there on a representative collection of WW1 British cavalry badges and shoulder titles. One title to go and then will pop them in an album with each badge and title shown separately as well.

Cheers Dean

Thumbs up

Good job Dean, I've manage to get all the cap badges shown, not that easy with the cost involved, I particularly like the addition of the titles, sets the collection off.
Well done Tony.

Thanks Tony and Andy - I put titles under my infantry set and found it quite effective.

I am being stretched on the yeomanry set but London's are not so daunting, cheers Dean.

Good evening.
Superb collection.
I would also like to have all the titles!
If I succeed, I would send a picture of my cap badges of the cavalry.

I hate to piss on your parade Dean but there is a 10H shoulder title. Nothing to do with jealousy after you got that 6D off Tony recently which is the only one I want of course.

Dean, I thought the 12th Lancers badge you have there went out of use long before WW1, unless you know something I don't.

Ok chaps - I have a 10H shoulder title however the oracle of shoulder title books Westlake's has a note that the regiment favoured XRH and a chap I correspond with suggested to me that in pics he had seen the XRH on Great War pics a fact I shall check up on. Sorry on the 6D Keith but we have been doing badly at cricket lately! I simply asked if any member had one and bam that was that thanks to Tony.

I will concede on the 12th Lancers as I have indeed added my earlier pre-1993 version and although it could have continued to be worn long after I am happy to swap that out.

As to hanging V in the GVR badges these were vetted in my cavalry album sometime ago but happy to review when I post them singularly in the album.

Would like to have them as a genuine set and have quite a few doubles so swapping out should not be an issue so please don't hold back.

Cheers Dean

Here is an Officer's bronzed RHG with blades to compare the V with my ORs.

Thanks for that info Dean, something I wasn't aware of. It probably explains why the 10H is so rare.

Great card Dean.... Don't forget that KDG changed their badge in 1915 to the Star and Garter example. You would need to put both KDG badges on your card for it to be truly representative... Good Skills though....

Thanks CB I had thought to do that but it meant repeating the shoulder title and so I thought I would put a stop at 1914 and display the changes in a seperate display to cover the post war amalgamations. It gave me a wobble with two LG titles as it is. Wondered if I should show an ORs and an Officers 1st or 2nd Life Gusrds badges with OR larger title alongside a smaller Officers LG shoulder title.

What a hobby, cheers Dean

Dean, having looked again, I have concerns with that 7th Dragoon Guards looks like the 'skinny' type copy, also the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, I would prefer voided windows in the two towers and the number of brick courses above the central window looks wrong, just my opinion of course. Have a look here. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=48990
Cheers Tony.
