Thought i might add to what's rare: So, 5 from my Regimental interest. Surprise surprise!! they are all NCOs Arm Badges....
No 1 is Mentioned in Linekar & Dine and represented at 6.3 (except this is the real deal not a 'representation' as they show) No 2 is illustrated at plate 5.6 - Hens teeth come to mind!! No 3 is not even mentioned in their book. The photographic evidence for the wearing of this badge in India just before WW1 has only recently come to light. I know of only 2 of these badges in existance. No 4 is illustrated in plate 5.3 of L & D. The HM Silver Eagle and it's rarilty and ridiculous value stuff of legend! Enjoy!! I have finally found this badge; (ironically sold to me by a Canadian dealer who is a member of the forum). If it is not the rarest badge that I own, (although I suspect that it might be), judging by the last Bosley's postal auction it is the most expensive badge that I have. Ironically it is both post war and plastic. Apparently they were made from 1952 for the KRRC by the London Association for the Blind and only 3500 were made in total. I have been after this one for the last 5 years so a long wait.

Gentlemen......
I guess you could say I have two..... The first is a silver (marked Sterling Silver) badge, pin back, that was worn by the British Female Civil Servants who worked at Canadian Military Headquarters, London, England. This one was given to me by my Mother and I have seen two others that were worn by her friends who married Canadian Soldiers and came here as war brides, I also have one of these badges. I also have seen group pictures of the 15 ladies where you can see them wearing the badges as identity badges. My Mother says that somewhere in her papers she still has the original bill / invoice when she picked them up after they were made. The second badge is the slouch hat badge for The Kimberly Town Guard. Mike

A fellow collector came up to me to show me a new badge my Mother saw that it was a CMHQ badge and stated that it was original and was extreamly happy to see it and wondered to which of the girls it belonged..... two of my rarer badges ,one etal and one cloth.its really hard to guess what is rare,but the cloth 1st assault patch would certainly be rare given the amount of guys in theunit and its relatively short lifespan.

How come the Canadians have been allowed to pinch our kangaroo.
The buggers also tried the same stunt with some fairly poor imitations of our rising sun design I think that we should grab their maple leaf in exchange

A recent acquisition is this slouch hat badge to the Staatsartillerie van die Z.A.R. It was brought back to England by Drummer Packham, Westminster Dragoons, with various other curios from the Staatsartillerie barracks in Pretoria (including 2 field caps, 2 pouches + belts, sabretache, etc). Remarkably, on his return to England, Packham photographed and drew up an inventory of his collection (which I have). The separate "S" and "A" can be seen on artillerists' slouch hats in photos of the time and differs from the joined "SA" used on their sabretaches. This badge is not in Owen.
