Default Australian jungle beret

Attached are photos of two olive green jungle beret.

The darker green one has loops around the headband, and is stamped 6 3/4 Made in Australia N67-1944 D [broad arrow] D.

The second one has no loops and the stamping is feint 7 1/4 D [broad arrow] D N432-1944 Made in Australia, plus RR below another arrow.

Reference to them can be found in Brayley & Inghams Khaki Drill & Jungle Green.

Stephen.

Hi There , i was issued one of these berets as part of my "serviceing kit" along with a pair of bib & brace overalls & jacket in 1968 (RAASC) for use when we worked on our vehicles doing basic serviceing etc. i have collected a serviceing kit (as above) for my RAASC Collection.

RACT,

Glad it brought back memories. I think these were both unusual and unloved when introduced, so they are rare items nowadays.
