Default Thoughts please, gentlemen.

Does anyone know for certain what this is?
Actually, I think I should have posted this in the Indian section.

There was a Bombay Volunteer Rifle Corps in the Auxilliary Force India [1922-1947] but I don't think that's it. Otherwise, can't think off hand of an Indian unit with those initials.

However, there were dozens, even hundreds, of small units in the Empire and Commonwealth, many of whom used brass shoulder titles between the 1870s and WWII. So.. Bermuda? Barbados? Barroda? Bong Bong [Aus]?

Hello Peter,
Never mind, it was worth a try, it annoys me, simply because I don't know.
Regards Frank

I think that is a very safe assumption to make!

Frank

I understand completely and apologize for the semi-facetious tone of my post. Not knowing is the curse of the curious!

The Bush Veldt Carbineers only existed for less than eight months in 1901 and their badges were normally incised from brass, most were made by List Brothers in Johannesburg and have been done to death, original examples are rare, this wretched thing is certainly not a Bush Veldt Carbineers.

LOL Andrew,
I see the mere mention of those wretched brigands has got you excited!
This is cast and has nothing whatsoever in common with that "Australian Major" and his lads.
Kind regards Frank
