Default 2/1 Leics Yeo Cap Badge (Slider?)

Hi All

Took a bit of a gamble on this one ...... but it might be worth it. "I think" this had a slider? The early issue was looped N/S and to date I have not seen a slidered example.

If you look carefully under the top hook plate fixing, you will see an oblong stump (see attached black & white enlargement).

If this is the case then it will be the first I have ever seen for the 2nd/1st Leics Yeo 1916-22 Cap badge.

Just purchased and should arrive next week.

The badge appears to be die cast OSD bronze construction. If that mark is indeed a scar from the original fixing I would expect it to be a blade rather than a slider. Very likely the south blade attachment point is concealed by the lower hinge plate.

Luke

The officers did not wear this badge .... only the Other Ranks.

Thanks Griff I had always considered these OSDs and seen them described as such. Not collecting officers badges I’d not paid close attention to period photos of what LY officers were wearing.

An interesting badge which I will now have to look out for.

Pleasure

I shall post some detailed close ups when i get the badge to confirm the slider "stump" when I get it.

Again.... I have never seen this badge with a slider... so if it "is" a slider stump..... its a hens tooth.
