Default Good or bad 44th

Hi Gent,

Not sure about this one I am aware that glengarry badges have been faked to death so your opinions on this 44th Essex Reg Glengarry would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Colin.

Hi Luke,

Not surprised but what are the flaws with this one, would be good to know.

Thanks for the swift response.

I can’t tell you what makes a good one as I don’t know but I can say it won’t have modern loops like that one or chemical staining on the back to age it.

One of our Essex aficionados like Father of Three or Expat Yeoman might be able to supply you with the information you seek or even pictures of a genuine badge.

I was always told when starting out that the lugs should be brass.

All as above, plus not keen on the size and shape of the 4s - take a look at the example in Brian's excellent Essex album.

Quite simply, the materials used are wrong and the die it was made from is also wrong.

Greetings.

Ditto all above and have a look at the area at the base of The sphinx.............it is obviously a separate piece attached to the numerals, originals were a one piece item.

Regards.

Brian
