Default Imp Yeomanry Badge

Can anyone advise what unit this badge would belong to and what period, I think it is a slouch cap badge?

Thanks Mike

I believe it's the generic Imperial Yeomanry badge worn during the Boer War, so multiple units.

Griff M-J will be knowledgeable on these and variants I bet.

Was that the one just sold on eBay (there was a nice Sharpshooters also)

Its a "generic" Imperial Yeomanry........ Very nice. Individually sponsored Coys/Sqns tended to wear their own badges or "brass numerals" on the rosette..... or have their own Rosette and badges etc.

Officers FFSCaps would have the small PWO's plume in Silver & Gilt.

Both Leics Yeo Rossettes.... numbered 7 & 65 in brass numerals respectivley.

Here is a "Paget's Horse" example....

I've been looking for one with the numeral "5" in it, 'cause its on the cover of the Northumberland Hussars History. Hope it's not just a book designers fantasy

yeah I got them both from Ebay not having seen any with rosettes and they looked good in the K&K book! The POW is deffo 25mm x 25mm - I agree! the POW badge is not attached to the rosette unlike the 'SS' badg which I also won!

I think the rosette material is silk?

Also worn as collars by Other ranks I have pictures of Leicester Yeoman wearing them on their return from SA, in LYPAO Blues Dress.

Yup, sorry, i just had a good feeling about them and went by the already very high bids to help indicate these were the real deal and worth putting a bit more money in! Oh and of course sniping, that was a 5 second snipe!!!

Can you advise on the material i think its silk?

Mike

Yes, its a bit of licence as how would the POW feathers sit up there? The one I have is the feathers and the 5 on the rosette, which came from Wallis & Wallis about 10 years ago.
