Default RAOC Fire Brigade

An unusual badge, believed worn on overalls by soldiers of the Fire Brigade of the 3rd Base Ammunition Depot, RAOC. It measures 3 inches by 2.5 inches.

Before the creation of the Army Fire Service in 1941 all Ordnance depots organised their own fire brigades. The National Archives lists war diaries for 3 Base Ammunition Depot serving with or in the BEF, Middle East, North Africa, North West Europe and the BAOR but this badge was probably worn in the BEF or Middle East.

Comments welcome.
